As the separate networks for voice and data have started to converge, the synchronization needs of various applications have not changed. Driven by the need to support existing and emerging services on updated networks with both frequency and time-of-day, the implementation challenges that face both network operators and equipment manufacturers will be the main focus of the workshop.

Promising new methods of providing sync for applications have been developed into standards and various standards group are continuing to provide additional standards to address new areas. The workshop will address the existing and proposed standards in the packet timing area. The gathered experts will also discuss the way forward as the industry adopts these standards.

Explore these issues at the Telcordia-NIST-ATIS Workshop on Synchronization in Telecommunications Systems (WSTS) 2011. This 20th WSTS provides a forum for high-level discussion and knowledge sharing with the experts on sync. We provide the groundwork for collaboration and for the solutions that will drive the success of the NGN.

WSTS and its sister conference ITSF in Europe represent a global alliance of pre-eminent experts in synchronization for telecom and related applications. Many of these experts act as steering group members for both conferences, as well as sit on various standards bodies including ITU, ATIS and IETF.
